AD Ports Group has signed a purchase agreement with Inveco LLC to acquire a 60% ownership stake in Tbilisi Dry Port.
This new custom-bonded and rail-connected intermodal logistics hub in Georgia, currently owned by Inveco LLC and Wilhelmsen, is scheduled to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2024.
Positioned along the strategically vital Middle Corridor, this project is a crucial logistics hub linking manufacturing centres in Western Asia to consumer markets in Eastern Europe through a network of sea and dry ports in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and Türkiye.
Situated at the heart of the Middle Corridor, Tbilisi Dry Port offers integrated facilities including a container freight station, warehouses, and a car storage park. It will serve as a pivotal entry, exit, and transit point for manufacturers, shippers, and consignees transporting containers, vehicles, and other goods for distribution and storage.
The project boasts direct railway links westward to Türkiye and Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi, connecting further to European Black Sea ports in Bulgaria and Romania, as well as eastward connectivity to ports along the Caspian Sea via a railway corridor to Azerbaijan .
Furthermore, located within the Tbilisi airport’s industrial zone, Tbilisi Dry Port offers substantial intermodal logistics capabilities, supported by state-of-the-art warehousing facilities and a cargo and vehicle logistics hub. The project will be developed in phases across two land parcels, with an additional 88,000m² of land available for future expansion.
Upon completion of all three phases, Tbilisi Dry Port is expected to have a handling capacity of 286,000 TEUs, along with 100,000m² of warehouse space and an expanded car storage yard. Noatum Logistics, a part of the AD Ports Group, will oversee facility operations, leveraging the Group’s cross-cluster portfolio capabilities and drawing on the expertise and capacities of Inveco LLC and Wilhelmsen.
