CJ Logistics is accelerating its expansion into the North American cold chain logistics market by establishing a large-scale cold chain logistics center in the United States.
The company announced on May 19 that it will establish a cold chain logistics center specialized in refrigerated and frozen products in the New Century area. The center will span 8,178 pyeong, equivalent to 27,035 square meters, or the size of four soccer fields, and is scheduled to begin operations in the third quarter of 2025.
Once the cold chain logistics center is fully operational, it will enable transportation to 85 percent of the United States within two days. Located just 6 kilometers from the nearest highway and within 20 kilometers of the transcontinental line of BNSF, a major American freight rail company, the center will facilitate convenient long-distance transportation by rail.
The center plans to handle logistics for products from the global food company Upfield. To ensure the logistics center can immediately receive products shipped from the factory, the Upfield production plant in New Century will be connected to the logistics center by a conveyor system. This is expected to enhance both the freshness of the products and the efficiency of the logistics process.
In addition to New Century, CJ Logistics is actively expanding its cold chain logistics business. A cold chain logistics center covering approximately 25,000 square meters is being established in Gainesville, Georgia, and is expected to be fully operational within this year. In March, the company participated in “MODEX 2024,” a major global logistics industry exhibition held in the United States, where it extensively showcased its cold chain logistics services.
