Shipping giant CMA CGM has announced a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS02) from North Europe to North America.

The surcharge will be effective from 15 September 2024 until further notice.

The charge will apply to shipments from all North European ports including North France, the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltic region, and North Spain (Bilbao, Gijon), to the US East Coast, US Gulf, Canada East Coast, Mexico, and all inland destinations accessible via these ports.

The PSS encompasses Dry and Reefer cargo (excluding special equipment and OOG). The surcharge amounts are $250 per 20-foot container and $500 per 40-foot and 45-foot containers.

Earlier this month, CMA CGM announced plans to expand its coverage in the Democratic Republic of Congo by adding to the present feeder system.

More recently, the company trialled WinGD’s Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) technology onboard one of its vessels.
