CMA CGM has announced the start of a seasonal service designed to address the surge in marine transport demand between Asia, Northern Europe, and the Mediterranean.

From 30 June until early September, seven more vessels with a capacity of 7,000 TEU will be deployed, departing biweekly from China for alternating destinations in Northern Europe (Le Havre, Antwerp) and the Mediterranean (Fos-sur-Mer, Malta).

According to CMA CGM, the new French Peak Service will rotate every 15 days between:

    • Yantian – Vung Tau – Singapore – Le Havre – Antwerp – back to China

    Or alternatively, between:

    • Shekou – Vung Tau – Singapore – Fos-sur-Mer – Malta – back to China

The vessel APL OREGON will leave from Yantian on 30 June for the first time as part of its seasonal operation.

This unprecedented step will enhance available capacity by 25 per cent on a high-demand route at the start of the peak season, reducing strain on marine transport supplies.

With an additional visit every two weeks alternately at the ports of Le Havre and Fos-sur-Mer, this seasonal service aims to bolster service to France, better addressing the demands of French importers and exporters.

Recently, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) confirmed that CMA CGM and Ocean Network Express (ONE) transported more containers through Singapore in the first five months of 2024 than in the same period in 2023.
