Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) has signed an agreement with DP World and European deep-tech company Nevomo to deploy India’s first magnetic propulsion-based cargo movement system at Deendayal Port. The partnership aims to introduce Nevomo’s MagRail Booster technology — a self-propelled rail solution that automates the movement of bulk cargo and containers using existing rail infrastructure.

The MoU was exchanged during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, in the presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World. It was signed between Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, DPA, and Yuvraj Narayan, Deputy CEO and CFO, DP World.

Under the agreement, a 750-metre MagRail Booster pilot track will be installed within the port to demonstrate fully automated, low-emission cargo operations. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s PM Gati Shakti Master Plan and Harit Sagar Green Port Guidelines.

By reducing reliance on diesel-powered vehicles and enhancing operational efficiency, the project marks a major leap toward modern, sustainable, and technology-driven port logistics — setting a new benchmark for the future of port automation in India.
