Delta Ports Mormugao Terminal of the Mangalore-based Delta Infralogistics (Worldwide) Ltd has launched operations at berths 10 & 11 at the Mormugao port. This is a 30-year concessionaire agreement, which was signed on December 14, 2023 on a public-private-partnership basis.

Delta Ports is also contemplating a pilot project to introduce autonomous vehicles into its operations, harnessing cutting-edge technology to enhance safety and productivity, a release said.

Vinodkumar Nair, Chairperson, Mormugao Port Authority, flagged off the harbour cranes to make the first move on April 4 to kick off the operations in the terminal.

Delta Ports plans to handle 2 million tonnes of cargo annually and scale up to 6 million tonnes catering primarily to general cargo, dry bulk and project cargo. The total investment committed for the modernisation and operation of both berths over the concession period is approximately ₹140 crores. The covers equipment, civil infrastructure and IT systems.

While Delta Ports is focussing on the Mormugao terminal operations, its parent company, Delta Infralogistics (Worldwide) Ltd., has presence across major Indian ports including Goa, Mangalore, Tuticorin, Chennai, Bengaluru, and in Dammam and Duqm (Oman) providing integrated logistics and customs brokering services with a turnover of around ₹250 crore, the release said.
