Flipkart has agreed with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) to strengthen India’s skilling ecosystem, with a focus on building nationally recognised and industry-aligned training pathways for the e-commerce and logistics workforce.
The agreement was formalised at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and NCVET. Senior officials present included Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE and Chairperson, NCVET, and Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group.
NCVET, which functions under MSDE, regulates vocational education and training in India and is responsible for setting nationally benchmarked standards to ensure quality, consistency and employability across skilling programmes.
As part of the collaboration, Flipkart plans to seek recognition from NCVET as an Awarding Body (Dual) for training, assessment and certification. This would enable the company to design and deliver programmes aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), ensuring standardised benchmarks and national recognition.
Flipkart said the initiative would help create structured training and certification programmes tailored to the operational needs of the fast-growing e-commerce and logistics sector, improving employability outcomes, particularly for individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities.
“At Flipkart, skilling is a core part of how we build India’s digital commerce infrastructure,” said Rajneesh Kumar, adding that the partnership aims to integrate industry insights into formal training and certification frameworks to develop job-ready talent.
Debashree Mukherjee said the collaboration reflects efforts to make India’s skilling framework more industry-responsive and outcomes-driven, strengthening career pathways and workforce mobility.
According to the announcement, certifications issued under NCVET-aligned programmes can be stored on DigiLocker, with academic credits accumulated through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), supporting portability and long-term career progression.
Both Flipkart and NCVET said the partnership is aimed at addressing skill gaps across the e-commerce supply chain and supporting India’s long-term economic competitiveness.
