The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd (G E Shipping) has agreed to sell its 2002-built Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) Jag Vishnu to an unaffiliated third party, the company said in a regulatory filing on December 26.
The vessel, which has a cargo carrying capacity of about 77,922 cubic metres, is scheduled to be delivered to the buyer in the fourth quarter of FY26.
Post the sale of Jag Vishnu, G E Shipping’s owned fleet will comprise 39 vessels with an aggregate capacity of 3.17 million deadweight tonnes (dwt). The fleet will include 25 tankers—comprising five crude tankers, 16 product tankers and four LPG carriers—and 14 dry bulk carriers, consisting of two Capesize, 10 Kamsarmax and two Supramax vessels.
In a parallel move to optimise its asset base, the company has also contracted to acquire one second-hand VLGC and one second-hand Ultramax dry bulk carrier. Additionally, it has agreed to sell a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier, Jag Aarati.
G E Shipping said that all the above purchase and sale transactions are expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of FY26, reflecting its ongoing strategy to modernise and rebalance its fleet in line with market conditions.
