Greta Shipping has expanded its regional maritime network by adding a new call at Jeddah Islamic Port under its RS1 service, aimed at strengthening container connectivity across the Red Sea trade corridor.
The upgraded RS1 service will deploy vessels with a carrying capacity of around 1,730 TEU, improving cargo movement efficiency between key regional ports. The addition of Jeddah Islamic Port is expected to enhance transit flexibility for importers and exporters handling shipments across the Middle East and nearby international markets.
Industry observers said the move reflects growing demand for reliable feeder and regional shipping services as trade activity in the Red Sea region continues to recover despite ongoing geopolitical and supply chain challenges. Improved service frequency and expanded port coverage are expected to support sectors including retail, consumer goods, industrial products and project cargo.
Shipping and logistics stakeholders noted that Jeddah Islamic Port remains a critical gateway for Saudi Arabia’s international trade, connecting major east-west shipping routes through the Red Sea. The new call is also expected to strengthen regional transshipment operations and improve cargo distribution efficiency.
Analysts said shipping lines are increasingly adjusting regional networks to maintain schedule reliability and support evolving trade flows amid changing global maritime conditions.
