The Indian government has extended duty-free import benefits for select critical petrochemical products until July 15, aiming to ensure stable supplies and support domestic industries facing global supply chain uncertainties.

The move allows continued import of key petrochemical materials without customs duty, helping manufacturers manage input costs and maintain production amid fluctuations in international markets. The extension is expected to provide short-term relief to sectors such as plastics, chemicals, textiles, and other downstream industries that rely on imported feedstock.

Industry participants said the decision will help ease supply pressures caused by geopolitical disruptions, freight challenges, and volatility in global energy markets. The duty relief is also expected to improve availability of essential petrochemical products and prevent sudden price increases in domestic markets.

The government is closely monitoring global supply conditions and may review further measures depending on market developments and industry requirements.
