In a major boost for transportation infrastructure in Nagaland, Indian Railways has successfully completed the first trial run of a freight train using Multi-Unit (MU) locomotives . The trial took place on the Shokhuvi-Molvom railway section, part of the Dhansiri-Zubza new line project, marking a crucial milestone in enhancing the region’s railway connectivity.

This trial run, which took place on Tuesday, is a significant step toward the completion of the 15.419 km stretch of railway. The section is expected to be operational in the near future, further strengthening the logistical network in Nagaland.

The new railway station at Molvom will soon become Nagaland’s third major railway hub, joining Dimapur and Shokhuvi. This development is anticipated to improve regional connectivity, facilitating both freight and passenger transport across the state.

With the successful trial, the region can look forward to improved economic prospects and increased accessibility, boosting growth and opportunities throughout Nagaland.
