Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that India’s electronics exports have reached $31 billion in the first eight months of the current financial year, underscoring the rapid growth of the sector.
Sharing an article from an English daily in a social media post, the Minister said electronics has emerged as the fastest-growing sector among India’s top 30 export items in FY26, registering a 38 per cent year-on-year growth.
Vaishnaw highlighted that the strong export performance is a reflection of India’s expanding electronics manufacturing ecosystem and the success of policy initiatives aimed at boosting domestic production. He added that the sector’s growth is driving employment generation, skilling opportunities and technology transfer, strengthening India’s position in global value chains.
The surge in electronics exports comes amid increased global demand for products such as smartphones, components and electronic equipment, supported by improved manufacturing capacity and supply-chain integration in the country.
The electronics sector has become a key pillar of India’s export strategy, contributing significantly to overall merchandise exports and reinforcing the government’s push to make India a global manufacturing hub.
