In a significant boost to multimodal freight connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, Krishna Canal (KCC) has been officially notified as an Extended Container Rail Terminal (ECRT). The move is expected to transform cargo movement for the region, particularly benefiting Guntur, Vijayawada, and nearby industrial hubs.

The new status will enable direct rail access, allowing for faster and more efficient handling of both inbound and outbound freight. It is also expected to reduce last-mile transportation costs, ease congestion at busy terminals, and enhance service reliability.

Industry stakeholders have hailed the development as a strategic milestone for the state’s logistics ecosystem. The initiative, made possible with the support of South Central Railway, underscores a commitment to improving operational efficiency and making freight transport more accessible.

Logistics operators and customers in the region are optimistic that the ECRT status will unlock greater growth potential and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as a competitive hub for trade and industry.
