Lufthansa Cargo reported a 47% year-on-year increase in first-half 2026 operating profit, with earnings rising to €199 million, reflecting resilient demand for air freight services, disciplined capacity management and continued operational efficiency.

The strong financial performance was supported by stable cargo volumes, improved aircraft utilization and sustained demand across key international trade lanes. The carrier also benefited from its extensive freighter network and belly cargo capacity on Lufthansa Group passenger flights, enabling it to respond effectively to changing market conditions.

Lufthansa Cargo said strategic investments in digitalization, specialized logistics solutions and premium products continued to strengthen its competitive position. Demand for time-sensitive shipments, pharmaceuticals, perishables and e-commerce cargo remained an important contributor to revenue during the period.

Despite persistent geopolitical uncertainties and evolving global trade dynamics, the airline maintained a balanced network and optimized capacity deployment to improve profitability. Cost discipline and operational reliability also played a key role in delivering higher earnings amid a competitive air cargo market.

Looking ahead, Lufthansa Cargo expects market conditions to remain mixed, with ongoing economic uncertainty and shifting trade patterns likely to influence demand. The company said it will continue focusing on network optimization, customer-centric services and sustainability initiatives while strengthening its position in the global air cargo industry.
