Maersk has taken a significant step towards sustainable road transportation with the launch of its first heavy-duty electric trucks in Vietnam. The vehicles were unveiled at the company’s EV Showcase event, underscoring Maersk’s commitment to accelerating the green transition across its logistics operations.

The introduction of electric trucks is expected to contribute to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in road transport and supports Maersk’s ambition to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2040, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) definition of net zero. The initiative also aligns closely with Vietnam’s national decarbonisation goals and its broader push towards cleaner mobility solutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Maersk highlighted the milestone as a move from long-term vision to practical, road-ready solutions, reinforcing its strategy to integrate low-emission technologies across the supply chain.

The company expressed gratitude to its strategic partners, local authorities, and teams in Vietnam for their collaboration and support in making the launch possible. Special recognition was given to the area leadership team—Kevin Burrell, Russel Pang, and Lam Bui—for their role in driving the initiative forward.

With this launch, Maersk strengthens its position as a leader in sustainable logistics in Southeast Asia, setting a benchmark for the adoption of electric heavy-duty vehicles in the region’s transport sector.
