Maersk said on Monday it would stop accepting some Canada-bound shipments ahead of a possible rail strike that could start as early as Thursday.
Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Kansas City are yet to reach an agreement over a new contract with the Teamsters union, which is demanding better wages and benefits, including provisions for fatigue management and better crew scheduling.
The two railroads account for the bulk of the country’s rail industry revenue and own more than 75% of all tracks.
