EDECS and Assarain Group have secured a contract to develop a major dry port project within Oman’s 388-square-kilometre EZAD economic zone, marking a significant step in the country’s logistics and industrial expansion strategy.

The project is expected to enhance cargo movement, warehousing, customs processing, and multimodal transport connectivity within the economic zone, supporting Oman’s efforts to strengthen its position as a regional trade and logistics hub.

Located in a strategically important industrial corridor, the EZAD zone is being developed to attract manufacturing, logistics, and export-oriented industries through integrated infrastructure and transport connectivity. The dry port facility will serve as a key inland logistics node linked to ports, industrial clusters, and regional trade routes.

Officials said the project aims to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce cargo congestion at seaports, and facilitate faster movement of goods across Oman and neighbouring Gulf markets. The development is also expected to support industrial diversification and non-oil economic growth initiatives under Oman’s long-term economic vision.

Industry observers noted that dry ports are becoming increasingly important in regional logistics networks as governments invest in inland cargo hubs to improve freight distribution and multimodal connectivity.

The involvement of EDECS and Assarain highlights growing collaboration between regional infrastructure developers in large-scale logistics and industrial projects across the Middle East. The project is expected to create employment opportunities and support future industrial investments within the EZAD zone.
