Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced updates to its environmental surcharge framework and revisions to bunker surcharge levels across selected trade lanes, reflecting evolving regulatory requirements and changes in fuel-related operating costs.

The carrier said the revised environmental surcharge coverage is designed to align with industry sustainability initiatives and regulatory measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping. The changes will apply to designated services and cargo movements, with implementation varying by trade route and region.

In addition, ONE has updated its bunker surcharge mechanism to reflect current fuel market conditions and anticipated fuel procurement costs. The revised bunker charges will be applied according to trade lane, container type, and shipment specifications, ensuring that fuel-related expenses are more accurately reflected in transportation costs.

Shipping lines worldwide are increasingly adjusting environmental and fuel surcharges as they prepare for stricter emissions regulations and invest in decarbonization measures. Carriers are also facing rising costs associated with the use of cleaner marine fuels, emissions compliance programs, and sustainability-related operational initiatives.

Industry analysts note that environmental surcharges have become an important component of shipping pricing structures as the sector transitions toward lower-carbon operations. Bunker surcharge revisions, meanwhile, remain a standard mechanism for managing fluctuations in marine fuel prices and maintaining service sustainability.

The latest adjustments by ONE come as global carriers continue to balance environmental commitments with operational efficiency while supporting customers through changing regulatory and market conditions. Shippers are encouraged to review the updated surcharge schedules and assess their potential impact on logistics planning and transportation budgets.

ONE said detailed information regarding the revised environmental surcharge coverage, updated bunker surcharge rates, affected trade lanes, and effective dates has been communicated through official customer advisories and regional offices.
