Japan-headquartered container line Ocean Network Express (ONE) has temporarily suspended acceptance of new cargo bookings to and from the Persian Gulf, citing operational uncertainties and heightened regional risks.

In a customer advisory, the carrier said the pause applies to fresh export and import bookings across key Gulf ports, while previously confirmed shipments will be handled on a case-by-case basis. The move comes amid ongoing security concerns and vessel routing challenges affecting services in the region.

Industry sources noted that shipping lines have been closely monitoring developments in surrounding waters, with some operators reassessing port calls, transit schedules and contingency plans. Rising insurance premiums and longer voyage times have also added pressure to network planning.

ONE said it will continue to evaluate the situation and provide updates as conditions evolve. Customers have been advised to coordinate with local offices for cargo already in transit or awaiting loading.

Freight forwarders expect short-term rate volatility and potential capacity tightening on alternative routes as shippers adjust logistics plans. The duration of the booking suspension will depend on operational stability and risk assessments in the Gulf trade lane.
