The Port of Helsinki has launched a €24 million modernisation project to upgrade the LJ6 quay, aimed at improving port infrastructure, operational efficiency, and long-term capacity.

The redevelopment initiative will focus on enhancing quay facilities and supporting the port’s ability to handle future maritime traffic demands. The project is part of the port’s broader investment programme to strengthen infrastructure and maintain competitiveness in the Baltic region.

The upgrade is expected to improve vessel handling capabilities while supporting smoother cargo operations and more efficient logistics flows. Modernised facilities will also help the port adapt to evolving requirements from shipping lines and cargo operators.

The Port of Helsinki continues to invest in sustainable and resilient infrastructure as the maritime sector undergoes transformation driven by changing trade patterns, larger vessels, and the need for more efficient port operations.

Officials said the LJ6 quay modernisation will play an important role in supporting the port’s future growth and enhancing its position as a key transport hub in Northern Europe.
