The office team of Regional Container Lines (RCL) recently participated in a hands-on one-day study trip from the Port of Bangkok to the Port of Laem Chabang as part of its structured onboarding programme.

Conducted every quarter at RCL’s Bangkok headquarters, the initiative ensures that all new team members gain first-hand exposure to port and vessel operations, bridging the gap between office-based roles and on-ground maritime activities.

During the visit, participants were introduced to key operational processes, including safety protocols, vessel berthing procedures, and the precision-driven system of container placement that keeps fleet movements efficient and reliable. The programme offered an immersive look into the real-life workflows that support RCL’s shipping network.

A key highlight of the trip was a detailed onboard tour of the vessel Lalit Bhum, where participants explored the ship from the hull to the captain’s bridge and engine room. The session provided insight into daily onboard operations and the complex mechanical and navigational systems that power RCL vessels.

By connecting desk teams with deck operations, RCL aims to cultivate a more resilient, knowledgeable workforce capable of delivering stronger supply chain solutions to its partners.
