Regional Container Lines (RCL) has suspended a scheduled China–Red Sea voyage due to worsening security conditions in the Red Sea, declaring Force Majeure and withdrawing the planned sailing of MV TS Chennai 2604E. The move reflects growing concerns over the safety of vessels operating in the conflict-affected region.
RCL said cargo owners will be responsible for any additional costs arising from the disruption, including handling, storage, re-routing, transshipment, inland transportation, demurrage, detention, and port charges, in accordance with the terms of the bill of lading.
The carrier stated that it will continue to monitor the security situation and resume normal China–Red Sea services only when conditions are considered safe and operationally feasible. The cancellation underscores the continued impact of regional instability on global shipping networks and supply chains.
