Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) recently organized an industrial visit for 40 Diploma Engineer Trainees (DETs) from leading technical institutes across Gujarat, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the next generation of maritime and engineering professionals.

The participating institutions included Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute (BPTI), Government Polytechnic Rajkot, Dr. Jivraj N. Mehta Government Polytechnic, Government Polytechnic Diu, and GMB Polytechnic Rajula.

During the visit to India’s largest shipyard, the students were exposed to advanced shipbuilding processes, including high-precision modular block fabrication and large-scale dry-docking operations. The immersive experience provided valuable insights into real-world industrial practices, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and operational realities in heavy engineering and vessel construction.

SDHI emphasized that such initiatives are central to strengthening the Indian maritime ecosystem by enhancing technical literacy, empowering local talent, and fostering industry-academia collaboration. The company reiterated its focus on building a future-ready workforce capable of supporting the country’s growing maritime ambitions.

The interaction also served as a platform to inspire young engineers, with the company noting that the enthusiasm and curiosity demonstrated by the trainees reaffirm its mission to cultivate a robust talent pool for the broader engineering and shipping sectors.
