Telangana is steadily emerging as one of India’s most promising logistics destinations, supported by major infrastructure investments and progressive policy initiatives, according to D. Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Industries & Commerce.
Addressing the International Conference on Shipping & Logistics 2026 (ICSL 2026) organized by the Logistics Committee of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Hyderabad on Friday, the Minister highlighted the state’s growing role in India’s logistics and trade ecosystem despite its landlocked geography.
“Although Telangana does not have a coastline, we have transformed our inland location into a strategic advantage,” Sridhar Babu said. He noted that the state contributes nearly 5% to India’s GDP, ranks seventh among the country’s merchandise-exporting states, and recorded exports exceeding ₹1.61 lakh crore during 2024-25.
Inviting investors and industry stakeholders to partner with the state, the Minister said Telangana was committed to building a future-ready logistics ecosystem capable of connecting markets and supporting industrial growth.
Speaking at the conference, R. Ravi Kumar, President of FTCCI, said Telangana possesses the potential to redefine logistics efficiency in India through its expanding industrial base, integrated transportation network, and the upcoming Multimodal Logistics Park.
However, he emphasized that further improvements in rail connectivity to inland container depots and the development of air cargo infrastructure in emerging industrial centres such as Warangal, Karimnagar and Khammam would be essential to unlocking the state’s full logistics potential.
The conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers and logistics professionals to discuss opportunities and challenges in strengthening India’s supply chain and transportation infrastructure.
