In a landmark achievement for marine conservation, Transworld, in collaboration with its long-standing partner Action for Protection of Wild Animals (APOWA), has recorded a successful mass nesting event of Olive Ridley turtles at two critical coastal sites in Odisha. This success is the result of years of focused efforts under Transworld’s Corporate Responsibility initiative.
The event marks a significant milestone in the company’s flagship campaign “Arribada – The Arrival of Ridley Turtles by Transworld”, which reflects a deep, ongoing commitment to marine biodiversity protection, coastal community empowerment, and habitat restoration.
Key Achievements:
A substantial increase in the number of hatchlings safely reaching the sea
Over 150+ beach patrols conducted to secure nesting grounds
10+ tons of marine waste removed through sustained clean-up operations
500+ coastal youth and fishers engaged through awareness and capacity-building programs
Continuous scientific monitoring to guide data-driven conservation strategies
“This isn’t just a moment of celebration — it’s living proof that sustained, community-led conservation delivers tangible results,” said a spokesperson from Transworld.
Transworld’s approach to conservation blends on-ground action with strategic partnerships, making real progress in restoring fragile marine ecosystems. Each patrol, clean-up, and training session contributes to a safer and cleaner habitat for one of the world’s most vulnerable marine species.
“At Transworld, we believe that real sustainability stems from purposeful action, strong collaborations, and a shared commitment to protecting the planet,” the spokesperson added.
As the Olive Ridley turtles return to Odisha’s shores in growing numbers, the success of Arribada signals hope — not just for marine life, but for generations to come.
