V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has continued its strong growth trajectory by registering a 25.14% increase in phosphoric acid cargo handling during April–May of FY 2026–27, compared to the corresponding period of FY 2025–26. The achievement highlights the port’s growing importance in supporting India’s industrial and fertilizer supply chains.
The significant rise in phosphoric acid throughput reflects the port’s operational efficiency, robust cargo-handling infrastructure, and its ability to facilitate the seamless movement of critical industrial commodities. Phosphoric acid is a key raw material for fertilizer production and plays a vital role in the agricultural sector, making efficient logistics crucial for supply chain stability.
Port officials attributed the growth to enhanced operational capabilities, improved cargo management systems, and the continued confidence of trade partners in the port’s services. The performance further reinforces VOC Port’s position as a preferred gateway for bulk and liquid cargoes serving southern India and its hinterland.
The latest figures add to a series of strong cargo-handling performances recorded by the port across multiple commodity segments in recent months, underscoring its contribution to regional economic growth and trade facilitation. With ongoing investments in infrastructure modernization, digitization, and logistics efficiency, VOC Port continues to strengthen its role as one of India’s leading maritime gateways.
A spokesperson for the Port Authority said the growth demonstrates the trust placed by customers and stakeholders in the port’s capabilities and reflects its commitment to delivering world-class services while supporting industrial development and national trade objectives.
