Pacific International Lines (PIL) marked a significant milestone as its latest “O”-Class vessel, Kota Orkid, made its maiden appearance in Singapore. The state-of-the-art 8,200 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship is currently deployed on PIL’s South West Africa Service (SWS) as part of its inaugural voyage.
To commemorate the vessel’s first call, a representative from PSA Singapore presented a special plaque to the Master of Kota Orkid, Capt. Kan Liang. In a gesture of appreciation, Capt. Kan reciprocated with a miniature replica of the vessel.
Named after Singapore’s national flower, Kota Orkid symbolises resilience, elegance, and progress — qualities deeply aligned with PIL’s heritage and vision for the future. The vessel is powered by LNG and is also capable of operating on greener bio-methane fuels. Equipped with advanced energy-saving technologies, Kota Orkid further strengthens PIL’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and enhancing environmental sustainability.
Following its Singapore call, Kota Orkid will continue its westbound journey to Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire before returning to Asia.
The arrival of Kota Orkid underscores PIL’s ongoing fleet expansion and renewal strategy, reinforcing the company’s dedication to building a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible fleet for the future of global shipping.
