The meeting focused on ensuring seamless rail connectivity between the WDFC and JNPT, a linkage considered vital for strengthening rail-based freight movement to India’s largest container port. Discussions underlined the strategic importance of the corridor in enhancing logistics efficiency and supporting growing EXIM trade volumes.

Shri Praveen Kumar was accompanied by senior DFCCIL officials, including Shri Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure); Shri Manish Kumar Awasthy, Executive Director (Infrastructure); Shri Sandesh Shrivastava, Executive Director (Project); Shri Vikas Kumar, Chief General Manager (Mumbai); and Shri Arvind Nagar, JGM (OP&BD).

During the interaction, the DFCCIL Managing Director also presented a DFCCIL Coffee Table Book to the Chairman, JNPT, showcasing the organisation’s journey and its role in transforming India’s freight infrastructure.

The Chairman, JNPT, expressed keen interest in the project and highlighted its wide-ranging benefits. The Vaitarna–JNPT connectivity is expected to promote a significant modal shift from road to rail, improve cargo evacuation, enhance port efficiency, and strengthen the overall competitiveness of rail-based logistics through JNPT, providing a major boost to the port’s cargo handling ecosystem.
