The Port of Gdańsk, Poland’s largest seaport and a key gateway for Central and Eastern Europe, closed 2025 with a record-breaking performance in container volumes, underscoring its rising importance in international maritime trade.

The port handled nearly 2.8 million TEU of container traffic in 2025 — a 23 % year-on-year increase compared with the previous year — with 2,766,475 TEU processed at the Baltic Hub Container Terminal, the main container facility. Containerised cargo tonnage also rose by 18 %, reaching about 24 million tonnes, reflecting broader demand across Europe and beyond.

Overall cargo throughput at the Port of Gdańsk rose to 80.4 million tonnes, up nearly 4 % from 2024, with 4,394 vessel calls during the year — including an increase in the number and average size of commercial vessels.

Port officials highlighted that strong performance in the container sector was a key growth driver and reflects continued investments in infrastructure, such as terminal expansions and deep-water handling capabilities.

“The dynamic growth in container volumes confirms Gdańsk’s evolution into a major logistics hub linking global shipping networks with Central and Eastern Europe,” said Port leadership.

The record container figures come amid broader efforts to enhance connectivity and multimodal transport links, supporting both import and export flows for regional and international trade.

This milestone underscores the port’s expanding role in Europe’s maritime landscape, as it pursues further growth opportunities through strategic infrastructure investments and service enhancements.
