Airbus has projected strong growth in the civil helicopter market in India, estimating demand for around 1,000 civil helicopters over the next two decades as the country expands its aviation and infrastructure networks.
The aircraft manufacturer said the rising need for emergency medical services, offshore energy operations, corporate travel, tourism and law enforcement activities is expected to drive demand for helicopters across the country. Increasing investments in regional connectivity and infrastructure development are also likely to support the sector’s growth.
Industry experts note that India’s current civil helicopter fleet remains relatively small compared with its geographic size and economic potential, creating significant room for expansion.
Airbus added that improved regulatory support, the growth of heliport infrastructure and the expansion of urban air mobility initiatives could further accelerate the adoption of civil helicopters in the Indian aviation market by 2045.
