A Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) of USD 1,000 per container will be introduced for shipments moving from the Indian Subcontinent, Pakistan, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to North America, effective July 1, 2026.
The surcharge will apply to all sailings commencing on or after the tariffing date and will remain in force until further notice.
According to the advisory, the PSS will be levied on all container types, including 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, reefer containers, special equipment, and high-cube units.
The move comes as carriers prepare for the traditional peak shipping season, when cargo demand on trans-Pacific and related trade routes typically increases, placing additional pressure on vessel capacity and logistics networks.
Shippers moving cargo from South Asia and the Middle East to North American destinations are expected to factor the additional cost into their transportation budgets from July onward.
Customers seeking further details on applicable ocean tariff rates have been advised to consult the carrier’s tariff information resources or contact local customer service representatives for shipment-specific guidance.
The surcharge is expected to impact a wide range of exporters, including manufacturers, agricultural producers, and refrigerated cargo shippers serving the North American market.
