CJ Darcl Logistics Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) under the Ease of Doing Business programme to accelerate the adoption of heavy electric freight mobility across India.
The partnership aims to develop commercially viable heavy electric vehicle (HEV) freight operations along upcoming E-Highways, with the Bengaluru–Chennai corridor selected as the pilot route for the initiative.
The collaboration represents a significant step in CJ Darcl’s strategy to build a future-ready logistics network while strengthening its environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments. By integrating electric trucks into long-haul freight operations, the company seeks to improve fleet efficiency, reduce freight-related carbon emissions and establish scalable zero-emission trucking solutions.
As part of the initiative, both organisations will work together on developing key infrastructure and operational capabilities required for electric freight transportation. These include the deployment of 3G charging infrastructure, battery swapping facilities, solar-powered charging integration, dedicated logistics hubs, partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), driver training programmes and the establishment of operational standards for heavy electric vehicle freight movement.
The MoU reflects the growing momentum towards decarbonising India’s logistics sector and supports the country’s broader sustainability and clean mobility goals. By combining infrastructure development with operational expertise, CJ Darcl Logistics and NHEV aim to create a cleaner, more efficient and commercially sustainable freight transportation model that can be replicated across major freight corridors in the future.
