India is set to supply two BrahMos supersonic cruise missile batteries to Indonesia under a deal valued at approximately $200 million, marking another significant milestone in the country’s expanding defence export programme. The agreement reinforces India’s position as a growing supplier of advanced military equipment in the Indo-Pacific region.

The export package will include the BrahMos missile systems, associated launch platforms, training, and logistical support. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s coastal defence capabilities while enhancing interoperability between the two countries.

The deal builds on India’s efforts to increase indigenous defence exports under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and follows growing international interest in the BrahMos missile, which is jointly developed by India and Russia. The missile is capable of striking land and sea targets at supersonic speeds, making it one of the world’s fastest operational cruise missiles.

For Indonesia, the procurement is part of a broader military modernisation programme aimed at enhancing maritime security across its vast archipelagic waters. The agreement also reflects deepening strategic and defence ties between New Delhi and Jakarta amid increasing focus on regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The BrahMos export is expected to further strengthen India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and support the government’s objective of expanding the country’s footprint in the global arms export market.
