Vietnamese container shipping and logistics company Hai An Transport and Stevedoring is expanding its container equipment fleet as it prepares to strengthen its Intra-Asia shipping network.
The company has ordered 850 new containers from Hoa Phat Container Production, comprising 650 20-foot units and 200 40-foot containers. Hai An began receiving the first batches in July 2026, following the start of production earlier in the year.
The latest order is part of a broader fleet expansion programme. Since 2024, Hai An has ordered 2,000 new containers, including 1,500 20-foot and 500 40-foot units. The company currently manages nearly 12,700 containers, with the newly built equipment accounting for around 2,000 units.
The additional containers are expected to improve equipment availability and give Hai An greater control over container deployment across its domestic and international operations.
Hai An is also strengthening its container maintenance and inspection systems. The company holds certification under the Approved Continuous Examination Programme (ACEP), supporting more systematic inspections, repairs and lifecycle management of its equipment.
The fleet investment comes as Hai An targets further growth in the Intra-Asia market, where it already operates multiple regional services. The company expects demand for reliable container equipment to increase as it introduces additional services and expands connectivity across Asian markets.
Hai An has also been pursuing vessel fleet expansion to support its regional ambitions. In May, the company announced plans to raise about $75.3 million through a bond issue, with funds earmarked partly for acquiring additional container vessels and upgrading logistics infrastructure.
The company said it was considering the acquisition of one or two second-hand vessels in the 2,500–3,500 TEU range to meet expected demand on Intra-Asia routes.
With investments in both ships and container equipment, Hai An is positioning itself to capture growing regional trade flows and strengthen its presence in the increasingly competitive Intra-Asia container shipping market.
