V.O. Chidambaranar Port has achieved a significant operational milestone by handling its first crude Palm Oil vessel at Coal Jetty–2, following the modification of the berth with dedicated pipelines connecting it to storage tanks located approximately 5 km away.

The vessel MT ZY Galaxy, carrying 15,000 tonnes of crude Palm Oil from Kunak, Malaysia, berthed at VOC Port on 28 August 2026. The discharge operations were formally launched by Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port, in the presence of Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, Shri K.T.V. Narayanan, Managing Director, KTV Health Food Private Limited, and senior Port officials.

The development is supported by infrastructure established by KTV Health Food Private Limited in the Port’s industrial zone, including four storage tanks and a refining facility with a capacity to produce 1,000 tonnes of Palmolein per day.

The commissioning of this dedicated handling facility is expected to strengthen VOC Port’s capabilities in liquid bulk cargo handling, while improving connectivity between the port and nearby industrial facilities. It also provides a more efficient logistics channel for the movement of edible oil cargo from international origins to regional processing and consumption centres.

With the handling of its first crude Palm Oil vessel at Coal Jetty–2, VOC Port further reinforces its role as a key gateway for industrial cargo, regional trade and supply-chain connectivity.
