India has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of caprolactam from China, Russia, Thailand and the United States following concerns over potential dumping in the domestic market.

Caprolactam is a key industrial chemical used in the production of nylon 6, synthetic fibres, engineering plastics and other materials widely used in textiles, automotive components and industrial applications.

The investigation aims to determine whether imports from the four countries are being sold in India at prices below their normal value and whether such imports have caused injury to domestic manufacturers.

The probe was initiated on September 30, 2026, by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) following an application from Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited. The investigation will assess whether the imports are being sold at unfairly low prices and whether they are causing injury to the Indian industry. Any decision on anti-dumping duties will depend on the findings of the investigation.
