India took a significant leap in its electric vehicle (EV) journey this week as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s state-of-the-art EV manufacturing facility in Gujarat and flagged off the first batch of made-in-India electric vehicles destined for more than 100 international markets.
Playing a pivotal role in this green mobility shift, APM Terminals Pipavav Port has emerged as the first port in India to export Maruti Suzuki’s electric vehicles. Strengthening its position as a vital logistics partner in the country’s sustainability drive, Pipavav has already facilitated the shipment of 1,534 units of the eVITARA model to the UK and Germany in August 2025.
This milestone underscores Pipavav Port’s growing importance as a strategic logistics powerhouse, enabling India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for sustainable manufacturing and exports.
“With this breakthrough shipment, Pipavav is not just serving as a gateway for cargo but also as a catalyst in India’s EV revolution—delivering world-class innovation from Gujarat to the global marketplace,” the port said in a statement.
As India accelerates its transition towards cleaner transportation, Pipavav’s role highlights how ports are evolving into critical enablers of green supply chains, driving economic growth while supporting the country’s climate commitments.
