Paradip Port Authority has taken a major step forward in advancing Odisha’s maritime ambitions with a high-level site inspection of the proposed Bahuda Satellite Port in Ganjam.

The visit was led by Chairman Shri P. L. Haranadh, IRTS, along with Deputy Chairman Shri T. Venu Gopal and other board members and senior officials. This marks the first on-ground assessment of the greenfield deep-sea port project since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2025.

Planned with an estimated investment of ₹21,500 crore, the Bahuda Satellite Port is envisioned as a transformative infrastructure project aimed at boosting cargo handling capacity, improving logistics efficiency, and strengthening India’s eastern maritime corridor. The port is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting industrial growth and facilitating increased global trade from the region.

Strategically located along Odisha’s coastline, the proposed port will complement existing facilities and help decongest traffic at Paradip Port, enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Officials highlighted that the project aligns with India’s broader maritime development goals, including port-led industrialisation and the expansion of modern port infrastructure under national initiatives.

With the site inspection now completed, the Bahuda Satellite Port project moves a step closer to execution, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in Odisha’s emergence as a key maritime hub.
