Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has concluded its mango export season, shipping 822 Metric Tonnes (MT) of mangoes in 2024, a 20% increase from the previous year. The airport handled 2.7 million pieces of mangoes, a 59% rise in volume compared to the previous season. This is based on the momentum built from the previous year when BLR shipped 685 MT of mangoes.

The airport’s export network to over 60 international destinations, including prominent airports like Chicago (ORD), Seattle (SEA), Dubai (DXB), London (LHR), and Houston (IAH), facilitated the shipment of mangoes to various countries. BLR also states that mango exports to the US destinations have surged this season.

The US emerged as a key destination, with airports such as Washington Dulles (IAD), Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW), and San Francisco (SFO) receiving a significant share of the mango exports from India.

Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), stated in an official release, “BLR Airport’s technologically advanced cold storage facility WFS BLR Coolport plays a crucial role in preserving the quality of the perishable produce
throughout the supply chain. This achievement of substantially increasing our mango exports year-on-year reaffirms our position as a premier gateway that meets the growing demand for Indian mangoes, particularly two key international destinations.”

Moreover, “With robust logistical capabilities, strategic partnerships and steady support for India’s agricultural sector, BLR Airport continues to strengthen its position as a leader in facilitating the export of high-quality fresh produce, further solidifying its role as a catalyst for economic growth and trade development.,” states the official release.
