The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced seven additional measures under its Export Promotion Mission, aimed at strengthening the global competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and accelerating outbound trade growth.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said the new interventions are designed to improve access to credit, reduce logistics costs, enhance market intelligence, and simplify compliance processes for exporters. The measures are part of the government’s broader strategy to position India as a resilient and diversified export hub amid shifting global supply chains.
According to officials, the seven initiatives focus on expanding export credit support, promoting e-commerce exports, strengthening district-level export ecosystems, improving testing and certification infrastructure, and facilitating easier market access in key overseas regions. Additional emphasis has been placed on digital platforms to streamline documentation and customs procedures.
The ministry stated that MSMEs account for nearly half of India’s merchandise exports, making them central to the country’s target of achieving sustained double-digit export growth. The fresh measures are expected to provide targeted relief to smaller exporters facing rising input costs and global demand uncertainties.
Industry bodies have welcomed the move, noting that enhanced policy support and faster implementation will be critical to translating the new initiatives into tangible export gains.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with states, export promotion councils, and industry stakeholders to ensure effective rollout of the expanded mission framework.
