The French shipping giant CMA CGM said the surcharge will apply to both dry and reefer cargo, aiming to balance demand and capacity during the current surge in trade volumes to East African ports.

The company stated that the PSS will take effect from mid-November 2025, applicable on all shipments originating from ports in India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and other regional origins bound for destinations including Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, and other East African ports.

CMA CGM said the measure is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure service reliability and manage operational costs amid increased seasonal demand across major trade lanes connecting South Asia and East Africa.
