Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) reported a container throughput of 5.58 million TEUs during FY26, reflecting steady growth in rail-based container logistics and continued demand for multimodal freight transportation across the country.
The company’s performance was supported by higher domestic and EXIM container movement, improved rail connectivity, and growing utilisation of inland container depots and logistics parks. Industry observers said the increase highlights the expanding role of rail freight in India’s supply chain network.
CONCOR has been focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening first- and last-mile connectivity, and expanding multimodal logistics solutions to support rising trade and industrial activity. The company also continued to invest in terminal infrastructure and technology-driven cargo handling systems during the fiscal year.
Logistics experts noted that the throughput growth aligns with the government’s broader push to shift cargo movement from road to rail, improve sustainability, and reduce logistics costs. Rising containerisation of domestic cargo and increased export-import activity are expected to further support demand for rail-based freight services.
