CN and the Halifax Port Authority (HPA) have jointly appointed Mumbai-based Crest Container Lines as their new representative in India, effective March 1, in a move aimed at strengthening trade links between the Indian Subcontinent and North America.

Under the agreement, Crest Container Lines will promote the Port of Halifax and CN’s North American rail network as a strategic gateway for Indian exporters and importers targeting the North American market. Headquartered in Mumbai, Crest operates nine branch offices across India, providing a broad national footprint.

Keith Reardon, Vice President of Intermodal Services at CN, said the company is pleased to continue working closely with the Halifax Port Authority to pursue cargo growth opportunities in the Indian Subcontinent. He noted that the partnership is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency for customers while drawing more business through the Port of Halifax and CN’s rail network.

Crest Container Lines President and Chief Executive Officer Fouze Farrhan, who brings over two decades of shipping and freight experience across the Indian Subcontinent and North America, will lead the representation efforts.

George Malec, Vice President of Business Development and Operations at the Halifax Port Authority, said Farrhan’s industry experience and Crest’s expanding network position the partnership to significantly grow cargo flows between the two regions.

The move reflects increasing efforts by North American gateways to tap into India’s growing trade volumes and diversify supply chain routes.
