In a major step towards sustainable freight operations, Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has introduced its first Electric Vehicle (EV) truck at the Tughlakabad (TKD) Terminal in Delhi. The move reinforces CONCOR’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly logistics across its operations.
The deployment of the EV truck is part of CONCOR’s broader Green Initiatives, which focus on minimizing the environmental footprint of containerized logistics in India. The zero-emission vehicle will be used for last-mile cargo movement within and around the TKD Terminal, significantly cutting down diesel consumption and air pollution in the national capital region.
“Sustainability is integral to our growth vision,” a senior CONCOR official said. “The induction of EV trucks in our fleet will not only enhance operational efficiency but also support India’s clean energy transition and the government’s net zero emission goals.”
Industry experts note that the shift to EVs in freight transportation is a crucial step towards greener supply chains, especially as India witnesses rapid growth in trade and logistics. By piloting EV operations at TKD, CONCOR is expected to scale up the deployment of electric vehicles across its network of terminals in the coming years.
The initiative aligns with India’s national focus on electrification of transport and sustainable logistics, a sector that accounts for a significant share of the country’s carbon emissions.
With this milestone, CONCOR has positioned itself at the forefront of eco-friendly freight solutions, setting a benchmark for the industry to follow.
