Congo Terminal has placed an order for 11 lift trucks and a mobile harbor crane from Konecranes as part of efforts to strengthen cargo handling capacity and improve operational efficiency at the facility.
The new equipment is expected to support rising container and general cargo volumes while enhancing loading, unloading, and yard handling operations at the terminal. The investment reflects ongoing efforts to modernise port infrastructure and improve productivity across Central Africa’s growing maritime trade network.
According to industry officials, the order includes heavy-duty lift trucks designed for container and industrial cargo handling, along with a mobile harbor crane capable of supporting flexible vessel operations and faster cargo movement at the berth.
The expansion comes amid increasing demand for efficient logistics infrastructure across African ports as regional trade activity and international shipping connectivity continue to grow. Modern cargo handling equipment is considered essential for reducing vessel turnaround times, improving terminal throughput, and supporting larger cargo volumes.
Analysts noted that investments in advanced port equipment are becoming increasingly important for African terminals seeking to attract more shipping services and strengthen their role in regional supply chains.
Konecranes continues to expand its presence in global port and industrial logistics markets through equipment supply, automation, and terminal productivity solutions. The company said the latest order underlines continued infrastructure development and cargo growth potential in African maritime markets.
