The Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) has presented the upcoming industrial port of Vasiliko to the High Commissioner of India, highlighting the project’s strategic importance for Cyprus’s industrial and energy sectors.
According to the CPA, the visit focused on outlining the scope and progress of the Vasiliko port, a nationally significant infrastructure project being implemented by the Authority with the objective of positioning it as a key hub for industrial and energy-related activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
During discussions, the Indian High Commissioner underlined India’s growing interest in infrastructure cooperation and acknowledged Cyprus’s strategic location, describing the country as a reliable transit and business partner in the region.
The Authority was represented by the President of the Board of Directors, Zenona Apostolos; Vice President, Christiana Iakovidou; General Manager, Anthimos Christodoulides; and the Director of the Port of Larnaca, Michalis Kefalonitis.
Addressing the delegation, Apostolos said the Vasiliko port represents an investment with wide-ranging benefits for the Cypriot economy. She added that the port’s development and operation will adhere to the highest international standards, strengthening Cyprus’s competitiveness and helping attract new investments.
Christodoulides provided a detailed presentation on the project’s design and technical specifications, emphasizing its operational flexibility and its planned role as a multi-purpose maritime hub. CPA officials also briefed the High Commissioner on implementation timelines, planned facilities, and provisions for future expansion.
