In a move aimed at ensuring seamless trade operations during the financial year-end, the Delhi Customs Zone has announced that key customs formations will remain fully operational on select holidays and weekends.

According to Public Notice No. 01/2026, the decision has been taken to prevent backlog accumulation and facilitate uninterrupted clearance of import and export cargo during the critical closing days of the financial year.

Customs field formations and assessment groups will function on March 26 (Thursday), March 28 (Saturday), March 29 (Sunday), and March 31 (Tuesday), despite some of these days falling on weekends or public holidays.

The directive covers a wide range of operational units, including:

    • All Import and Export Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and Air Cargo Complexes
    • Courier terminals
    • Foreign Post Offices
    • Assessment Groups handling both PAG (Port Assessment Group) and FAG (Faceless Assessment Group) clearances
    • Participating Government Agencies (PGAs)
    • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems
    • Turant Suvidha Kendras (TSKs)

Officials stated that the move is intended to support trade stakeholders by ensuring faster processing and clearance of goods, thereby minimizing delays during one of the busiest periods of the year.

The notice, issued with the approval of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Delhi Zone, urges all stakeholders and staff to align their operations accordingly to maintain efficiency and avoid disruptions in cargo movement.

This proactive step is expected to provide significant relief to importers, exporters, and logistics operators, reinforcing the government’s commitment to trade facilitation and ease of doing business.
