India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a warning to IndiGo following a cargo spillage incident and identified deviations from the airline’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) during cargo handling operations. The regulator directed the carrier to strengthen compliance measures and address operational shortcomings to prevent similar occurrences.

The DGCA’s review highlighted the need for stricter adherence to cargo loading, unloading and handling protocols to ensure the safety and security of aircraft operations. The warning underscores the regulator’s focus on maintaining high safety standards across the aviation sector.

IndiGo is expected to implement corrective actions, reinforce staff training and review its internal cargo handling procedures to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements. The airline will also be required to strengthen oversight of ground operations and operational safety practices.

The action reflects the DGCA’s continued efforts to enhance aviation safety through regular inspections and enforcement of operational standards, while ensuring that airlines maintain robust cargo handling and risk management procedures.
