DH Shipbuilding has secured contracts for the construction of two new Suezmax tankers, strengthening its orderbook amid steady demand for mid-size crude carriers.

Industry sources said the vessels will be built to comply with the latest IMO environmental and efficiency standards, with delivery scheduled over the next few years. While contract values and the identity of the buyer have not been officially disclosed, the newbuilds are expected to feature fuel-efficient designs and emissions-reduction technologies to meet tightening regulatory requirements.

The latest orders reflect continued interest in Suezmax tonnage, driven by their operational flexibility and suitability for a wide range of crude trade routes. Shipowners have shown a preference for modern, eco-design vessels as they seek to balance fleet renewal with compliance costs and long-term fuel transition strategies.

For DH Shipbuilding, the contracts add momentum to its tanker construction programme, as yards benefit from renewed ordering activity after a period of cautious investment. Analysts note that while overall newbuilding volumes remain measured, demand for replacement tonnage in the tanker sector continues to support selective ordering.
