Kochi-based Docker Vision, founded in 2021, is making waves in India’s maritime technology landscape with its cutting-edge AI-driven solutions for port automation. The company’s flagship product, docR, is a Gate Automation Software that integrates seamlessly with any Terminal Operating System (TOS) or third-party platform, offering exceptional adaptability and scalability.
In an exclusive conversation, Prajith Nair, CEO of Docker Vision, shared insights into how the company is bridging technology and maritime operations to drive efficiency and intelligence across ports.
“As a startup, our initial challenge was establishing credibility through first-time deployments and building trust with early clients,” said Nair. “However, our AI-powered OCR technology delivers up to 98% accuracy, works with a wide range of camera systems, and can be implemented rapidly, giving us a strong competitive edge.”
The company’s solutions are designed to be cost-effective, scalable, and seamless, driving measurable improvements in operational efficiency and automation readiness for terminal operators and logistics partners.
Docker Vision’s founding team combines deep expertise across engineering, data science, and shipping. “Our inspiration came from a shared belief that AI could transform port operations by enhancing visibility and efficiency,” said Nair. A major milestone came in 2023, when Docker Vision’s system achieved 95% accuracy, paving the way for its product rollout. The founding trio brings together over four decades of combined experience — from hardware and automation systems to computer vision, deep learning, and maritime operations — forming the cornerstone of the company’s innovation journey.
Docker Vision has already gained traction with key industry players. “We are grateful to DP World Kochi and MIV Logistics for supporting our product trials,” said Nair. The company is targeting mid-sized terminals handling over 200,000 containers annually, where automation can deliver immediate benefits. With an in-house AI development team, Docker Vision provides customised, client-specific solutions that evolve with the changing logistics landscape in India and beyond.
Following successful pilots and positive market feedback, Docker Vision is now preparing for international expansion. “Regions such as the Gulf and Africa have shown strong interest in our technology,” Nair shared. The company’s roadmap includes Africa and Southeast Asia, markets undergoing rapid port modernisation and increased adoption of smart automation systems.
The company’s growth has been bolstered by institutional support. Docker Vision received initial funding through the Sanchi Connect Accelerator Program, onboarding venture capital partners Thinkuate and SeaFund, raising ₹50 lakhs in the process. This was followed by a ₹1 crore grant from the USHUS Program, a collaboration between IIT Madras and Cochin Shipyard Limited.
With a strong foundation and expanding market interest, Docker Vision is poised to lead India’s charge in intelligent port automation — showcasing how homegrown AI innovation can power the next generation of maritime efficiency.
